5.3.3 – Women’s Access Schemes
Hacettepe University supports women’s participation in higher education through scholarship opportunities, institutional support structures and its Gender Equality Action Plan (2022–2026). The University’s Student Affairs Department provides information on scholarship opportunities and coordinates applications for programmes offered in cooperation with external organisations.
- Scholarships for Female Students
1.1. MAN Türkiye Achievement Scholarship – 2025/2026
In October 2025, Hacettepe University’s Student Affairs Department announced applications for the MAN Türkiye Achievement Scholarship for female third-year students enrolled in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Industrial Engineering.
Applicants were required to submit their application forms and supporting documents to the University’s Scholarship Office by 10 November 2025.
The programme provides a specific scholarship opportunity for women studying engineering, with applications coordinated through the University.

1.2. Turkish-American and International Women’s Cultural and Charitable Association Scholarship – 2024/2025
Hacettepe University also announced scholarships offered by the Turkish-American and International Women’s Cultural and Charitable Association for female undergraduate students during the 2024–2025 academic year.
The programme offered monthly non-repayable scholarships of TRY 1,250 for eligible female students in selected programmes at the Ankara State Conservatory, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Education.
The announcement specified the application requirements, number of applications to be considered and number of scholarships available. Applications were submitted through Hacettepe University’s Student Affairs Scholarship Office.

1.3. Scholarship Information and Application Support
Hacettepe University’s Student Affairs Department maintains a Scholarship Office that publishes scholarship announcements, provides application information and receives documents for programmes coordinated through the University.
These services enable students, including applicants to women-specific scholarship programmes, to access relevant information and application procedures.

- Institutional Framework for Gender Equality
Hacettepe University’s Gender Equality Action Plan (2022–2026) provides the institutional framework for promoting gender equality in education, research and university life.
Approved by the University Senate on 10 March 2022, the Action Plan addresses work-life balance, representation in leadership and decision-making, equality in appointment and promotion, gender equality in research and education, and measures against gender-based violence and sexual harassment.
The University has established a Gender Equality Commission and a Commission for Protection and Support Against Sexual Harassment and Sexual Assault. These structures support the implementation of the University’s gender equality commitments.

Hacettepe University Women’s Research and Implementation Center (HUWRIC/HÜKSAM) conducts research, education and awareness activities addressing women’s issues, gender equality and violence against women.
The Center also works to incorporate a gender equality perspective into university research, programmes and institutional activities, and supports cooperation with national and international organisations.
These activities complement the University’s scholarship opportunities and institutional gender equality framework.

Hacettepe University’s Gender Equality in Numbers Current Situation Analysis Report examines gender representation among students, academic and administrative staff, and university management.
The analysis provides institutional information for identifying gender disparities and informing the University’s equality-related planning and activities.

- Peer Mentoring – Hacettepe IDEAL
Hacettepe IDEAL provides academic, peer and technical mentoring to undergraduate students. During the 2024–2025 academic year, the programme offered entrepreneurship training followed by opportunities to apply for mentoring support. Applications for mentoring were scheduled for 31 March–4 April 2025.
The peer mentoring programme pairs students with trained peers for an eight-week period, focusing on business planning, communication, problem-solving and other managerial skills. The IDEAL website also identifies the peer mentors serving during the 2024–2025 academic year.
