Hacettepe University provides a wide range of mentoring, counselling and peer support mechanisms to strengthen the academic, social and personal well-being of students from under-represented or disadvantaged groups.

1. Disabled Student Unit – Academic, Social and Psychosocial Support

The Disabled Student Unit is responsible for removing barriers and supporting the academic and social participation of students with disabilities. The unit provides accessible learning arrangements, counselling, guidance and psychosocial support for students.
Each faculty or department appoints a Disabled Student Advisor, and the full list with contact details is publicly available on the unit’s website.

2. Accessible Campus Practices and Peer Support

Hacettepe University received the 2024 “Accessible University – Barrier-Free Flag” from the Turkish Council of Higher Education in four separate categories.
Part-time student assistants working in the Disabled Student Unit provide academic peer support to students with disabilities.
The campus includes accessible pathways, ramps, tactile surfaces, elevators, accessible restrooms, Braille signage, transport platforms, parking spaces and comprehensive Accessible Library Services equipped with JAWS, Pearl Reader, scanners and other assistive technologies.

3. Psychological Counselling Unit and Guidance Services

Professional psychological counselling is provided free of charge at both the Beytepe and Sıhhiye campuses, supporting students’ emotional well-being and personal development.

4. Career Development Center (KARMER)

KARMER offers career guidance, mentoring, employer engagement activities and transition-to-work support for students and graduates. The centre plays a key role in supporting the career development of all students, including those from under-represented groups.

5. Hacettepe IDEAL – Academic, Peer and Technology Mentoring

Hacettepe IDEAL provides academic mentoring, peer mentoring and technology mentoring. The programme aims to develop students’ Innovator, Dreamer, Entrepreneur, Achiever, Learner (IDEAL) competencies and supports their academic adjustment, skill development and engagement in university life.
