Hacettepe University adopts a non-discriminatory admissions policy designed to prevent unequal treatment and to ensure that all applicants are offered equal opportunities throughout the admissions process. No discrimination is made on the basis of gender, disability, socio-economic background, ethnicity, religion, political opinion, or any other personal characteristic; all decisions are based solely on objective and measurable criteria.
Hacettepe University’s General Ethical Principles further reinforce this commitment by stating that “Due to language, origin, color, bodily characteristics, gender, sexual orientation, political thought, faith, religion, sect and similar characteristics, people are not discriminated against and treated fairly in service delivery.”
Hacettepe University’s Mission and Vision also explicitly emphasize its commitment to Respectful to Differences, stating that it “As a university, respect for different thoughts, cultures, and beliefs is one of our values.” These statements collectively form the foundation of the University’s admissions practices and broader equity-focused policies.
Undergraduate Admissions
Undergraduate admissions are conducted through Türkiye’s national centralized examination and placement system. Students are placed in undergraduate programs by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM) based on exam scores, national ranking, and quotas approved by The Council of Higher Education (YÖK). Hacettepe University fully adheres to this objective and nationally standardized system.
Graduate Admissions
Graduate admissions also follow a transparent and nationally regulated framework. Applicants take national examinations (e.g., ALES and language proficiency tests) and are then evaluated based on Hacettepe University’s published quotas and criteria. Final admission decisions are made using a weighted combination of national exam scores, academic background, and written/oral examinations conducted by the University—all of which are defined and published in advance. Equal opportunity is ensured at every stage.
Positive Discrimination and Support for Students with Disabilities
Students with disabilities participate in the same national examinations; however, national regulations provide dedicated disability quotas for placement into higher education programs. Additionally, Hacettepe University offers extensive support mechanisms to ensure full participation in academic and campus life. University dormitories apply separate and prioritized accommodation quotas for students with disabilities.
Hacettepe University has an established Disability Support Unit, responsible for:
-

-

-

- ach faculty also appoints a Disability Student Advisor, and their contact information is publicly available on the Disability Support Unit’s website.
